Youth & Teen studio programs with Shirra Benson
At Nádúr Art Studio, young artists are invited to explore the world of oil painting in a supportive and inspiring studio environment. These small-group programs introduce students to colour, texture, and expressive techniques using professional materials while encouraging creativity, curiosity, and confidence.
Students will develop their own ideas and complete a minimum of four finished paintings over the 11-week session.
Teaching Philosophy
Art is not just about learning techniques — it’s about learning to see the world with curiosity and confidence.
In the studio, students are encouraged to experiment, explore, and discover their own creative voice while learning foundational painting skills. Each class balances gentle guidance with creative freedom, allowing young artists to grow at their own pace while developing real skills in oil painting.
The goal is to create a calm, inspiring space where students feel comfortable taking creative risks and discovering what they are capable of.
About the Instructor
Shirra Benson is a professional Canadian landscape artist based in Owen Sound. Her work is inspired by the natural beauty of Georgian Bay and the Niagara Escarpment, and she is known for her expressive oil paintings and textured palette knife work.
In addition to her studio practice, Shirra works with young artists through school art programs and community workshops, sharing her passion for painting and creative exploration.
Through Nádúr Art Studio, she offers small-group programs where students can experience real painting techniques while developing confidence in their creativity.
Youth
Oil Painting Art Club
Ages 10–13
Thursdays | 4:30–6:30 PM
The Youth Oil Painting Art Club at Nádúr Art Studio offers young artists the opportunity to explore painting in a supportive and inspiring studio environment. Students will learn foundational oil painting techniques while experimenting with colour, texture, and expressive brushwork.
Working with professional materials including brushes and palette knives, students are encouraged to develop their creativity and confidence while learning real painting skills. Each class balances gentle instruction with creative freedom, allowing students to grow at their own pace.
Students will complete a minimum of four finished paintings over the 11-week session.

Oil Painting Art Club
Ages 14–18
Thursdays | 7:00–9:00 PM
The Teen Oil Painting Art Club at Nádúr Art Studio is designed for teens who want to strengthen their artistic skills while exploring their own creative voice. Students will work with professional oil painting materials while learning about colour, composition, texture, and expressive painting techniques.
Using both brushes and palette knives, students will develop their ideas and gain confidence in their creative abilities within a relaxed small-group studio setting.
Students will complete a minimum of four finished paintings over the 11-week session.
